Word For Mac Mailmerge Mail Grayed Out

Why is the mail merge toolbar greyed out when creating AutoMail Template? Created Date 29th April 2015 Product IRIS AutoMail Problem I am trying to insert a tag into an AutoMail template. I have ticked the tag I want to use in the Tag Selection Screen and when I maximise the Word document the 'Merge Field Button' is greyed out. How can I insert. For more info, see Prepare your data source in Excel for a mail merge in Word for Mac. Outlook Contact List contains data in a format that can be read by Word. See Use Outlook contacts as a data source for a mail merge. Word data file is a data source you can create on the fly, within Word. For more info, see Set up a mail merge list with Word. Twitter follower Toby Sax is anxious for me to revisit an old Mac 911 column that lays out the steps for creating mail merged documents in Microsoft Word. In a series of tweets Toby writes.

Hello.

I presently have Outlook configured as the default email client. (Have gone through the stock Apple Mail App to do this) I have rebooted several times and when I am doing up a mail merge document, the actual 'generate email messages' is greyed out meaning I am unable to send a merged email.

Also, when I am in Word or Excel, and go to File 'Share', the options to email are once again greyed out.

Does anyone have any suggestions? I have searched for hours to a solution but have not found any. I did find a couple terminal commands, etc but those did not work either.

I look forward to any and all help here.

Thanks,

Steve

I had this same issue and somehow came upon a thread in this forum that read: 'Unable to Mail an Office Document, option to email is greyed out'

Word For Mac Mail Merge Email Greyed Out In Excel

and just as Jim Gordon said in this post, somehow (i must have clicked yes to something) my default mail client got switched to my gmail account.

I switched it back (open Mail, then preferences, under the 'general' tab, top of the list is 'default email reader')

then i closed excel, ppt and word.

When i re-opened the programs, I regained the option to send as attachements.

I just have to pay attention to what I click on 😉
